So I'm not the only one with two left feet, eh? ^_^
When they first came out here in the US, the company which made them named them Rollerblades, so that's what everyone knew them as. But as other companies started producing them too, the original manufacturer threatened to sue for trademark infringement. So the more generic name, "inline skates", was soon adopted by others. Even so, a lot of people still say, "Let's go rollerblading," since it has a nice, fun sound to it. Plus some people think of ice skating when they hear the word "skating", so calling it "rollerblading" instead can help make it clear what is meant.

I have a pair of these. When I was in high school, my friends and I used to spend 4 hours on Fridays and Saturdays "blading" at the local skate park. As I used to skate home afterwards up a couple of big hills, after 3 months, I'd lost about 10 kg (I was overweight in high school). My friends used to skate down a couple of local large hills at 80kmh! I wasn't game to skate down large hills though.

Umm, sounds interesting! Actually we call it "rollerblade" in Japanese sometimes. At least I have heard of it. Let's go rollerblading sounds good to me because I can imagine what we call. Thank you for your tips! I've also learned another new things here again!

I'm very happy to have you here! Thank you for visiting this blog!
I'm totally interested in "blading" now after hearing you say "I lost 10 kg." The problem is I'm not good at "skating" or "blading." XO
I'd rather stand on my foot! Maybe I need to take a walk on a daily basis...
