What for?
We are Japanese and we live in Japan. Our husbands only speak Japanese and won't be relocated to any other country. So, why are we studying English? What for?
Actually, I've been asked this question so many times. In our daily lives, it's quite obvious that English isn't a must. In fact, here in Japan, we don't need to deal with English at all. We can buy anything, we can go anywhere and we can ask anyone for advice without using English. Isn't it a bit meaningless to be into English?
I'd say I don't know how to answer that. I'm not sure exactly why I've been keeping at it. However, I feel that English has helped me expand my horizons. To me, English sounds like music. It's like a puzzle. I can't explain how I feel, but one thing is sure, this love affair will last a lifetime.

Thank you!
I've been enjoying your blog and it inspired me to study English more. Although I speak to my American husband in English everyday, I have been frustrated with my lack of vocabulary. I just wanted to say thank you for all the information you brought to me for my study.

I am sometimes lost why I keep learning in English. At first I became interested in English and I wanted to become English speaker. I have been studying English by myself more than 10 years and trying various way to close my dream. I like English even though I experienced many setbacks. Recently I happened to read the book whose author is Kazuyo Katsuma. I got into one sentence. It said Do not set study itself as a purpose. It is meaningless unless you use it. I got thinking about this. What is my purpose.....? Just I like it is not enough? By the way I like your blog. You always encourege me. Thank you so much. And I am sorry. My English is poor. There might be some mistakes in this comment. This is my first time I wrote something to someone in English.

Thank you for your comment! You speak English in conversation with your hasuband, but yes, I can understand you. That's why you feel frastrated because English is kind of a must for you. We don't need to be perfect...but we'd like to be perfect. I'm totally with you!!

Was it your first time to write in English? What a waste! You should write more because your writing is wonderful! Why not learning together? I'd like to have a company. I believe we must have a lot in common, such as "study for (over)10years."
