One of Japanese traditions in summer

そうめん流し ... Soumen-nagashi

We went for a drive and had 「そうめん流し」 for lunch last weekend. Let me try to explain what it is like in English.
1) We use a halved bamboo tube to have 「そうめん流し」.
2) 「そうめん」 is a kind of Japanese noodle.
3) We scoop up the 「そうめん」, which float by in the water running though the open bamboo tube, with chopsticks.

Oh, no. What a poor explanation that was! Maybe I need your help and imagination to make this better... 「そうめん流し」 is one of many Japanese summer traditions. I'm sure you'd love it. When you have an opportunity, why don't you try it?

Hi again!

Hi Emi!

I really like your blog and I made a listing of English blogs on my site, I hope you don't mind.

If you'd like to be removed just let me know!

Thank you and take care!

It sounds like fun!

Rather than just sit and eat an ordinary meal, you can enjoy fishing for the noodles you'll eat. ^_^

Although I haven't tried そうめん流し, I did eat at a few places in Japan where food moves by on a conveyor system. One time it was at a sushi place, and I remember that the people next to me would always grab the sushi I wanted before it could get to me. Grrr! I laughed about it of course, but I also vowed that next time I would sit closer to the chef... ^^;

Thank you so much! You encourage me a lot in many ways. You don't need to ask me to make a link. I really appreciate it!

To Michael

You can say that again!
Where you went is 回転寿司, right? My kids love it. When you can't get anything you want, you can order in person. I think it'd be a better way to have some fresh sushi!
