No longer a safer country

People used to say that Japan was the safest country in the world. Now that a 25-year-old Japanese man ran down two young men with a truck and then proceeded to stab several people to the death in the middle of the day, can you still agree with it?

They said the murder had been struggled with his life. He didn't get a dream job, and it made him uneasy. He couldn't stand with his hapless situation any more, and made up his mind to end his life...with someone else. There are lots of fatal accidents similar to this case here in Japan.

I cannot understand others' problems completely. I can only guess how tough their lives might be. However, I'm confused about his way to make a decision. Did he really think that it was his best solution? Was he confident enough to say it'd be his final answer? He might have been suffering from mental problem, but it seems to me that he chose a rash action.

The hardest thing in our lives is to choose something. The decision depends on us, it also makes us owe full responsibility. You might be unhappy right now, but how about next year? What about in five years or ten years? Are you sure you'll end up having unfortunate life forever?

We are too vulnerable to make a perfect decision. we should know this. Everybody can't be flawless, and that's okay. We need to know how to clear up our lives, not give up.

It was heartbreaking to hear the news of this terrible crime and tragedy. Clearly the man who did this must have felt a lot of pain in his own life, but it's hard for me to understand his desire to hurt and kill others. Now a whole nation is suffering because of his actions, and most especially those whose friends or loved ones were victims of this man's violence.

Unfortunately, we see such tragedies all too often in the United States. No matter how many times it happens, though, or how much I try to understand the mind of someone who would do it, I find myself at a loss.

As recently as last year, Japan was listed as the 5th safest country in the world, after Norway, New Zealand, Denmark and Ireland. I really hope that violence isn't on the rise, and that Japan will always remain one of the most peaceful places to live.

It's very shocking news. Many people can't understand why he did such a cruel case. Not just him having a trouble. I agree with you. We tend to look just current situation. But we should not rush to the conclusion. There must be alternative...... Anyway suspect should not be forgiven.

I totally agree with you. As a mother, I don't to want to hear this kind of news anymore. It's so horrible...
Yes, I've heard the recent survey as well. Some people say, "Why can't we be the first?" in a TV program. I believe Japan is a safer country in the world, but it doesn't mean we don't need to face any tragedy... We must have responsibility for the peace. Friendship of the grass roots can work wonders in our future.

In the middle of the day, who can't predict to happen such a tragedy? Yes, we should think about our sociery. I believe mother's power can't be ignored, because we experiened to produce a life! It's important. We can teach how precious our lives are.
